Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's Local Content and Government Procurement Authority has updated the mandatory list by adding 205 new national products across 11 sectors.

The additions include 20 building and construction products, 34 medicines and medical preparations, 103 medical supplies, eight chemicals and fertilisers, nine food and agricultural products, 11 furniture, and six stationery and office tools, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The list also includes six plastic consumer products, four transportation and logistics services, three personal and household equipment and supplies, and one paper consumer product.

The authority aims to empower national products and factories by activating preference mechanisms for local content, SMEs, and companies listed on the financial market in business and procurement.

It expects government spending on the 460 beneficiary factories with production capacity to meet demand will exceed SAR 3.40 billion.

Products were selected in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, Saudi Standards body, Expenditure and Projects Efficiency Authority and Saudi Chambers based on criteria like national factory quality and production capacity and number of manufacturers.

The authority calls on specialised national factories to apply to include new products provided they meet standards on its website.
